OB/GYN ULTRASOUND FEES At the present time we charge one fee which includes the "technical component," the fee for DOING the scan and the "professional component," the fee for INTERPRETING the scan. Some ultrasound laboratories charge these two components separately. If you are comparing their fees with our fees, you would have to add their two fees together. Sometimes we are not satisfied with the imaging we are getting of certain parts of the baby. For example, if the baby is face down, we may not be able to see the mouth and nose, to look for a cleft lip. Or, with abdomen and chest down, we often cannot see the heart well enough to see each chamber, the valves, the inner walls of the heart, and the large vessels leaving the heart. In those cases, we may ask you to return in a day or two in the hope the baby has moved. We do not make an additional charge, but consider the second scan a continuation of the first scan. If you want to check our fees, please call (907) 451-3349 -- my nurse's phone. If she is not there the voice mail will pick up and you can leave your name and number and what type of obstetrical or gynecologic ultrasound exam you are interested in and she will call you back. SELF REFERRAL FOR PRENATAL ULTRASOUNDHere is the consent form we ask you to sign if you are referring yourself for a prenatal ultrasound. The Fairbanks Clinic does participate in Tricare. |
